本名单反映的是IMDB网站上观众投票数（number of voters）最多的100部电影的排名。
与体现传统经典的Top250不同，个人认为观众投票数反映了一部电影在广大影迷中的关注度和流行度，即人气值的高低。所以在这份名单中，大家会发现一些IMDB评分很高但年代比较久远或比较小众的电影没有入选，相反一些评分较低的商业大片或话题之作却位列其中。
